My Littlest Baby...

My littlest has been sick. Yes, on the sixth day of school she was absent. Miss Em was running 102 temperature and had a major sore throat. So on Monday Hubby and I played tag team and stayed home with her! There is nothing like calling in for a sub the second week of school! Things are looking up. Miss Em visited the doctor and is feeling a little better, her fever is gone, but I feel like I am dragging and I feel SO.FAR.BEHIND this week!

Have we really only been in school 7 days?

Lets look on the bright side... Tomorrow is hump day. We have a long weekend coming our way. She has been fever free and made it through school today. I have leftovers for supper!

The Tree House...

A week or so before school started the girls begged for a tree house! So what do you do when three sweet faces beg for a tree house, you start building with any and every bit of wood you can possibly find! It just happened to a Saturday that Will was out on a LONG bike ride so I began to tackle the project BY.MY.SELF... just me and the girls~ We did pretty good if I do say so my self! We found the perfect place to place to tree house which when you have as many trees as we do one our acreage that is a feat in itself. We then placed the large piece of wood we hauled from the storage house.
We hauled lots of wood of the storaged building to build the support beams and a hammer and saw and some nails! Oh and did I mention it was a 105 degrees and 3 o'clock in the afternoon...
We then measured all the legs and cut them with a SAW to be the support legs for our tree house. OK! I will stop here and say we did get the legs under the tree house but it was NOT. THAT. STURDY! We waited for daddy to return home and help make the tree house a bit more stable! He was able to make the tree house steady and ready to go and in a FLASH!
The girls painted the legs and have BIG plans for painting more of the tree house. Daddy also added a ladder on one of the trees and a bucket and a rope to bring up necessary items :) He also added some rails to add some character...
What more could a girl ask for? It is the perfect tree house! I wish we would have built it at the first of the summer! Now we can enjoy it all FALL and WINTER and for a lifetime!

Happy Birthday Abbey Grace...

Today is my Abbey Grace's 11th birthday! Really it does not seem possible... Really not at all! She is growing up way too fast! Sweet Abbey began the 5th grade today on her 11th birthday... How can it be?
This Saturday we had her birthday party before the craziness of school began! It was a super fun party filled with LOTS of little girls and a few BOY cousins thrown in the mix! Abbey is so blessed with LOTS of crazy, fun, little girls in her life! We were so happy that that so many of them took the time out of they crazy busy schedules to celebrate Abbey's birthday with us!

Of course we can NEVER have a gathering without a SISTER picture :)
Abbey, there are no words to describe how much you mean to me! You are turning into a very special young lady! I love you to pieces, sweet girl!
Happy Birthday, Abbey Grace!

Best of Both...

This week I have felt the best of both worlds... I have been totally POOPED and completed EXCITED! It is teacher in-service week! You know the teacher drill. Teacher's are running around like crazy from meeting to meeting, getting their rooms ready for the new little students. It is a great time of year but it can leave you feeling both EXHAUSTED and a bit GIDDY!

Here are some reasons I have felt like this... 1. I just havent slept good because my brain wont turn off.
2. I am running every which way!
3. Let's be honest, getting back into the swing of "school" is just hard after summer break.
4. It is all just a bit OVERWHELMING!
5. The list gets longer and longer and longer...

But at the same time I feel like I am the little Energizer Bunny and I could go forever or that I am flying through the air ALL. DAY. LONG because...

1. I LOVE beginning a new school and it is JUST.PLAIN. EXCITING!

2. I really love getting that new list of kiddos and thinking of the new possibilities for a new school year.

3. I love seeing all my coworkers after a long summer break! Everyone is so excited and busy, busy, busy.

4. My girls have been at Grammy and PaPa's all week so I have gotten so much done.

5. Our school got an amazing make-over this summer and it is just a wonderful feeling to be in a clean building. My classroom looks clean and fresh and clutter free! It all makes me smile!

Now if I could just find the happy middle between pooped and excited! It will come :)

Happy New School Year!!!

Really??...

When I started my car up at 4:13 this afternoon after a day of teacher inservice, this is what my car thermometer read! Yep, you got it...111!

Many thoughts ran through my head like:
1. I know that temperature is a bit exaggerated. It is HOT!
2. Could I fry an egg on my car?
3. My make-up is melting off of my face!
4. I need more deodorant.
5. I wish I had shorts on.
6. My hand are going to melt to my steering wheel.
7. I bet I have a "back-side" ring on my driver seat when I get out of my car :)
8. Texas Summers are AWESOME!
9. I should not have complained when I had to wear my jean jacket during inservice because I was COLD!
10. Is my air conditioner broken or is it just taking this long to cool off my car?

Happy Monday!

Friday Favorites...

This Friday my FAVORITES are all about my girls' backpacks for this school year! They each picked a backpack that fits their personality!

This is Miss Em's backpack. It is bright, fun, simple, and a bit funky! Lainey girl picked a zebra and hot pink backpack to match her lunchbox! It is adorable and shiny.
Abbey Grace picked a saddle bag that is made from an ACU jersey. She got it when she went to Wildcat camp. It is SO HER!!
I LOVE how my three girls are so different... and how it shows even in their backpacks. I think we are ready for school!
Happy Weekend!

Thursday Thoughts...

1. This is my LAST day of summer vacation. :( Teachers report back tomorrow. It is a little bitter sweet. We are ready for a schedule, but summer has been so nice!

2. My little Abbey Grace is beginning her last year of elementary school. She will be in the fifth grade. It seems like just yesterday I registered her for Kindergarten at good 'ole A.W.E. and left her with Miss Golson with tears in my eyes. Now she is dreaming of junior high and cheerleader tryouts and REAL sports!
3. Abbey and Emiley will be sporting these cute lunchboxes this year. Got them for $7 at Kirklands! I "heart" them and so do they. :) Abbey loved it because it was lime green. Emiley loved it because it was animal print!
4. Speaking of animal print, I found this cute lamp at the local dollar store and had to get it. It was super cheap and I needed it for my little buffet I moved back in the house from the sunroom. I matches my living room rug and throw pillows. 5. Lainey Beth got a new lunchbox, too but hers is hot pink and zebra! It fits her PERFECT! Her backpack matches it perfectly, too but would you think anything differently from her?!?!
6. Speaking of Lainey Girl, I made her take a break from a little summer reading to take a picture for me. She will be in the third grade grade. How is it possible?
7. Oh my, another bargain! Silver GAP flip flops for $8... Last year the teachers were able to wear flip flops because our school was EXEMPLARY! Well, we are EXEMPLARY again so I am hoping I will get to wear these adorable flops to school :)
8. Miss EM! She is a Doll... and going into the second grade. I sure am going to miss her in first grade! It was sure fun teaching first grade with her in first grade last year, but she must move on and grow up.
9. I have been cleaning house ALL.DAY.LONG! Not a fun way to spend my last day of summer vacation but it must be done and I will be so glad its clean.
10. Let the school year BEGIN!

TWENTY.SEVEN years...

These girls and I have been friends for TWENTY.SEVEN years! Yes, I know we dont even look like we are TWENTY.SEVEN years old, but we in fact met when I moved to small town, Brady, TX in the second grade. We have been through so much together... We have seen parents die, parents divorce, we have been in each others weddings, we have had ten kids, we have cried together and laughed ALOT! Every time we are together it is like we have not missed A.SINGLE.DAY.TOGETHER!

This last weekend I spent the ENTIRE weekend with my childhood girlfriends ALONE! We didnt get dressed (well, except for swimsuits) and wore little makeup! It was AWESOME! We visited the lakehouse that we LOVED and visited during high school and that we have visited a few times in between! (We are so thankful that Farrah's family still has the lake house!) We rode in the boat when we wanted to! Which included a night stroll :)

Farrah had to FREAK me out and drive with NO. HANDS!
We relaxed on the dock...

We drove the boat to the bridge that many of our friends jumped off of during high school... if our parents are reading this... please ignore!

I did NOT JUMP! I was often called the Chicken S**T! I was a chicken and I admit. But I did not walk around with bruises on my rear because of it.
We floated in the lake without a care in the world! I sacrificed and took the kid float :)
We acted like kids and rode the jet ski! We relaxed in the hot tub and I did not get a single shot of us in the hot tub :( And we LOVED every minute in being in this home away from home! Thanks for having us, Farrah!
Love you girls since second grade! Has it really been TWENTY-SEVEN years?
