Friday Favorites...

Today was our annual Music Program {DAY} at school! This we celebrated MUSIC through the decades. Each grade level was to dress up like a given decade and then they performed dances for that decade! TODAY's program and celebration at school is my FRIDAY FAVORITES even though it has left me totally pooped. First grade was the 50's so I got to wear my poodle skirt again! Here I am with one of my super cute little boys. And my first graders 50's style! {minus my little sickly kiddos who have been out all week :( }
Emiley's grade was the 60's and she had a cute flip do and headband. They made pillowcase shift dresses in art and looked so adorable.
I didnt have a very good seat to see Emiley during the show but luckily one of my friends sent me some pictures of Emiley!
Lainey's class was the 70's. Some of the kids were hippies and others were the disco era! Lainey did her costume and I think I looked so cute!
The 70's were a bit harder if you weren't the group that was suppose to do the tie-dye and and peace signs.
The kids all got to rotate in groups and participate in fun centers around the school that taught them things about each generation. They learned the "Hustle", they did 50's style relays while they acted like carhops, they wrote raps from the 90's, they played human arcades, they watched commercials through the decades, and made pet rocks. We are blessed with a GREAT school! Then to finish off the day, the 5th grade music class gave a WONDERFUL performance! Here is Abbey Grace in the 50's number...

And finally she was a girl from High School Musical {sort of} in the 90's number! They also did a really cool piece from the 80's but none of my pictures turned out because it was so dark and there were strobe lights!!!
It was an exhausting day but ON.OF.THE.BEST days of the year! The kids LOVE it! They have worked hard for today's performances.

Weeks and Weeks and Weeks...

I feel like I am weeks and weeks and WEEKS behind on blogging. There are things I intended on sharing with my family who keeps up with us this this "dear old little blog" and I never got it posted. We have done fun things, the girls have been "oh so successful" in school, there has been program after program, and the list could go on and on. Some of the past events I didnt even have my camera or phone. It is getting busy, folks!!!

So, I will try to catch you up just a bit with LOTS of pictures. A few weekends ago we ventured over to Abilene for the day for the Western Heritage Classic. We usually stay for the weekend but this year because of how busy we are, we were only able to stay for the day on Saturday. We enjoyed it just the same and still got to do lots of shopping including a little special shopping with the cousin at Crazy Consuela { www.crazyconsuela.com }, visit with cousin Oscar, watch a little horse races, drink the yummy lemonade we crave every year, and eat at Joe Allen's!
Abbey was even more excited when she woke up Saturday morning after her late softball game and we told her she could take her BFF with us. They had a great time! I am not sure the BFF had even been so close to country in all her life!
Of course we had to make a stop by the Clydesdales! Yes, they are the HUGE horse you see on TV. They seem even bigger in person.
This past weekend we headed south and east to see the grandparents and celebrate Poppy's birthday. Of course a trip to Poppy and DeeDee's isnt complete without a trip to the pool! Miss Em and Whitney gave me a little pose.
The daddy's were not too impressed. They were sweating with all the humidity. We had to give them a little break since they had played golf in this humidity all morning. :)
I LOVE my nephew to pieces. He is the cutest thing EVER! Poor thing is surrounded by girls.
After some swimming it was time to head back to the house.
I just love all the pretty views around their neighborhood.
That evening we had a yummy dinner and cake and ice cream for Poppy's birthday. Once again, Garrett was being a cutie pie!

They even got the neighborhood girls involved. Sunday morning we went over and had a super, yummy breakfast with EE and Papa Jim. I didnt even get a single picture of a breakfast of their patio but it was super and Mom made sure it was gluten-free. We then headed to College Station to see Grammy and PaPa so we got to see ALL GRANDPARENTS in one weekend!
Ok, now on to the recap that has needed to happen for weeks and weeks and weeks... the Easter Bunny brought sleeping masks! They are so cute. Miss Em has even been caught really using hers!
A few weeks ago we had a last minute sleepover with the Haile girls! It was the Hale's and Haile's!
Lainey was "Inner-Planet Janet" in her 3rd grade play. My pictures are horrible but she did a great job. She even had on a flashing ring!
My Lainey girl is a big helper. When things are crazy busy like now, she is the one to help me LOTS with dinner. This night she helped me make a salad before we rushed off to another softball game.
Miss Em... Oh Miss Em! She keeps us laughing. I think she must have had my camera because I found this picture of her in her new favorite "doodle" shirt!
The girls all got new bikes. They are SO.EXCITED! They have been riding them non-stop. They are competing in a triathlon in a few weeks and had really outgrown their bikes. So now they are set for their race and for riding up and down our dirt road for the next few years. I told them their bikes are better than anything I ever had as a kid. I only had a 10 speed. They got 15 speeds!!! They are still learning but they are getting GOOD!
A few weeks ago I went with my first graders to a children's museum. It is a really GREAT one. We got to walk across dinosaur bones on a glass floor...
And see a huge sea turtle. I hope to take the girls here this summer. Lainey has never been and I know she would LOVE it!
And finally, this is for Mima and Vi and the rest of the Everett clan... Recognize the mirror?? We used it in the decorations for the Titanic. It was in the entrance way and looked gorgeous!

Friday Favorites...

This week my Friday Favorite is Miss Em and her three adorable friends! They tried out for the All-School Talent Show this week to represent second grade. They did a cute dance to the Gummy Bear song and MADE IT!! They looked super cute in their pillow case costumes. So all three of my girls have made the talent show for the last day of school to represent their given grade level. I couldn't be prouder! Happy weekend!

Wordless Wednesday...

We love our babies... {Yes, they are 8 and 9 years old now. They are 14 months apart!}

One of them is a bit more "tom-boyish" and looks like her daddy.
The other is a bit more "prissy" and looks like her mommy!
And yet somehow they look like sisters! {They fight like sisters too :)} God is Good!

Happy Hump Day!

Titanic...

Today was the long-awaited TITANIC day for the 5th graders! They have been studying about the Titanic of 1912 in their ELA class for many weeks and today was the big luncheon and "fancy" day. Each girl was to dress in a floor length gown and hat and each boy in a shirt and tie. {Here is Abbey minus the pearls that were at the school. We had to add those once we got to school!}Then each girl and boy were paired up as "escorts." They didnt know who their escort would be until they got to school this morning. Abbey's was Will's bosses great-nephew. They looked so nice and grown-up. Abbey was so excited this morning she got up before I did. We rolled her hair and added a little make-up. We even painted her nails yesterday.
The students are served a five-course meal and have learned all about etiquette. It is really a big deal and entails lots of projects for the finale of the fifth grade year. Here is Abbey with her main course. {I took the day off today so I would miss anything! I spent yesterday decorating.}

Here are some of the other kids waiting. When they arrive at the church they are given some more Titanic history as they are waiting to have their pictures made. This "little" day of festivities is really done BIG!

I took the whole day off and Will took about two hours off at lunch time to come help be a waiter. Their were about 16 parents who were needed to be the wait staff! We had to dress in white shirts and black pants. We even got lessons on how to serve.

Here is an up close of the centerpieces. They used real china and cloth napkins. Lainey came yesterday and helped fold napkins!

We had a center decorative table that was gorgeous. We even borrowed a chandelier with pearls of course!
It was a LOVELY day. At the end of the meal, the students are given an envelope with the name of the person on the Titanic they are representing. It then tells them if they survived or perished in the shipwreck. Abbey survived. They were also given a copy of the paper from the NY Times from that day. Pretty neat experience...
