It's Friday Again!...

It's Friday Again and time for another edition of Show Us Where You Live Friday by KELLY and my regular edition of Friday Favorites. So lets get started with a tour of my girls' rooms! This is Lainey and Emiley's room. They both have old iron beds that were given to us. I repainted both of the beds black. This is a closer shot of Lainey's side of the room. Above her bed is a painting of a letter "L" that my mom did for her. To the left of her bed is her first painting she did in art lessons that she did that she won third place with in the local art show. This is Emiley's side of the room. She also has a painting from my mom over her bed. My kids love stuffed animals. I usually make them choose five to keep on their beds because sometimes it gets out of control. It seems that it has gotten out of control again and we need to recount!
This is Miss Abbey's room. She also has an old iron bed that I have repainted. She is in love with pandas right now. I think she has about ten stuffed pandas in her room.
The largest one sits in this chair in the corner of her room.

Now for my Friday's Favorites. These were my kitchen cabinet pulls before... And these are my kitchen cabinet pulls AFTER!! Dont you LOVE them!! I sure do :) They make me SMILE every time I cook...

Fall To Your Knees...

Today I woke just like everyday. Ready to take it all on. I made my bed, had shower, put on my make-up, got dressed, packed the girls' lunches, woke the girls, got them off to school, stopped at Sonic for my daily unsweet tea, and finally came home for my quiet time, and turned on the computer.

I turned on the computer to find that there had been an Earthquake in Honduras. WOW! Honduras is now in a tsunami alert. We leave for Honduras in one week from today. Please fall to your knees and pray for the people in Honduras. I talked to Rosy (my friend who is from Honduras who is going on this mission trip with us next week) and she said her family is fine. Please fall to your knees and pray for our trip next week. Please fall to your knees and pray for our VBS and for the 200 Honduran children we hope to reach and teach Jesus to next week. Please fall to your knees and pray for the 20 women that we will be speaking to. Please help me say the things I have been preparing. Help me say the things that God would have me to say. Let these women see Jesus in me. Let them see hope, love, joy, peace, and God's grace in our time together. Fall to your knees and pray to our gracious Father for these Honduran people who need Him so much. Fall to your knees and pray for our safety. Fall to your knees to pray for God's glory to be seen in all we do the week we spend in Honduras!

PS... We will be in Choluteca, Honduras. Just southe of Tegucigalpa, Honduras which is the capital city.

Our Little Author...

Today has been another busy one. We are wrapping up the end of the school year and couldn't be happier about it. Today was spent at the AR carnival. I think I painted every child's face and arms in Kinder through 5th grade about five times!

Since I am so tired and have no funny story to share, just enjoy Emiley reading a page from her end of the year book at her Kindergarten Author's Program!

I have the "awesome-est" hubby...And the "best-est" friends... Yes, I do! Yes, I do!

They completed the Cap Tex Tri this weekend! Way to go! I was a bit of a slacker this time but hope to get back on the band wagon soon!

All in One...

Well, Its Friday again and I am back for an "All in One" Post... One Part of Show Us Where You Live Friday Hosted by KELLY and One part my regular FRIDAY FAVORITES. So here we go! This week is all about dining rooms. As I have shared in weeks past, our living room, den, kitchen, dining room is "all in one." When we bought our older home and remodeled, we tore down three walls and now have one large, open family area and we LOVE it! This is our dining area!

Once again, I will say that everything in our home was given to us or bought at a garage sale. Our dining room table was Will's grandfather's. I remember him playing cards on it....card in the middle, spit cup on one side, candy bowl on the other. It has two leaves that go with it so it expands when we need it to. The red hutch on the right was given to us from my parents.

I love this hutch and I really love how all my pewter dishes look on it.

We registered for all of these pieces from the Wilton Company when we got married and I still love them today!

These goblets keep your drinks extra cold!

The only bad thing about these dishes are that you cant put them in the dishwasher or microwave so we dont use them everyday.

And now on to my FRIDAY FAVORITES. A few weeks ago I dyed my hair a few shades darker. ( I admitted a month or so ago I dye my hair every six weeks religiously because of grey hair!) It has taken a few weeks for it to grow on me, but I now admit that I do like it! It may be the compliments such as... " you look younger " and " you look thinner " that have caused my new love for the darker do, but whatever it is I am showing it off this Friday as I celebrate my 33 1/2 birthday :)

I am also loving my new black shades :)

**Updates: I gave Will a second chance to sing me a long song. This time he chose "Love Me Tender" by Elvis! Yes! Much better choice.

Next, Start praying! We leave for Hondorus in a short two weeks...

Sing To Me, Babe...

Like the rest of the world, Will and I were watching American Idol last night. After it was over and Kris had been crowned the winner they were saying that Dallas would be one of the locations for auditions for the next season. I told Will he should go audition! I then proceeded to tell him he could start practicing right now and sing me a little song.

He asked me what I wanted him to sing me. I asked him to pick anything...anything romantic!

Ok, I do admit it! I do crank up the radio. I do love that song but it is not a romantic one. I am a Texas girl but not a redneck girl.

My Heart is Breaking...

**EDIT** I made it to Abbey's lunch. She hugged my neck, said she loved me and shared her pretzels then she was off to finish her kickball game! I love you, too Miss Abbey. You will always be my baby girl even though you are growing up way to fast! I am so thankful for you independance, confidence, and joy...

Today is Abbey's third grade picnic.

It is at the local park from 8:30-12:00.

We discussed last night if she wanted me to come. She started crying this morning because she told me she didnt know if she wanted me to come or not.

She finally decided it would be OK if I only came at 11 when they ate lunch.

So I loaded her up with her blanket, jump rope, lunch, OFF, and two bottles of water and kissed her out the door.

My baby girl is growing up.

My Tumbling Girl...

This weekend was Miss Emiley's tumbling recital. She did such a good job and looked so CUTE:) Emiley loves gymnastics and performing. She even had to pose for these pictures after the show! Emiley also loves her new gymnastics bag... Look at that smile on her face...

This first video is of Emiley doing her cheer. She is a girl after my own heart. We love cheerleading :)

This second video is Emiley doing her front roll, straddle roll, cart-wheel and round-off. Some one stood up right in the middle of it, but I hope you can enjoy a little of it!

The girls are out of school today for a bad weather day. We sure have enjoyed just being at home and not rushing about too much. That is all about to change though because Emiley has gymnastics today, Lainey has art lessons, and Abbey has a softball game! They keep me busy...

Surprise, Surprise...

Surprise, Surprise! Here we are again on another Friday taking a home tour and playing in my regular Friday Favorites. First, I am back for another edition of "Show Us Where you Live Friday" hosted by Kelly. This week we are hosting a tour of our guest rooms. Some of you who know me and know where I live are probably saying to yourself, "Shelley doesnt have a guest room?!" Yes, you are right... but remember we have a guest HOUSE! Well, sort of... we have a small house on our place that we hope to someday (maybe SOON... I am thinking this summer...maybe??) make into a guest house and office for Will. So here is my tour of my guest room/house that is in need of much repair. With an open mind though, you can see the potential! This is the outside of our "efficiency." It is cute. Will has been painting the outside trim off and on the last few months. Remember, it has potential and will be so fun for guests to have their own space when they come for a visit. Here is the inside. The bed is in and ready. I just need to finish ripping up the floors, paint, rip out the kitchen countertops and replace them and clean, clean, clean it! Here is a view of some of the kitchen cabinets. They could be replaced, but I am just going to paint them. This room stores stuff right now. In the right of the photo you will see an old telegraph machine. This is my dad's. He is keeping it because many history breaking stories came across this wire to his radio station. For example, the shooting of JFK! Here is one of the windows looking out onto the front pasture. Remember, it has potential! I would LOVE any suggestions you have on how to REDO this little house... remodel tips, cost saving tips, decorating tips... BRING THEM ON!
Now, for my FRIDAY FAVORITES! Last week was mother's day as we all know... I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and three beautiful little girls. I love being a mommy!! I am so blessed to have three girls and a husband who has supported me in everything. Anyway, I wanted to share with you some of the treats I received on Mother's day that were my favorites... First was this flower in a plastic cup from Miss Lainey!

Abbey made me this sweet card. My favorite part inside the card said, "Thanks for having all the answers to my questions. Do you ever take a break?" Abbey also gave me some coupons for chores that she would do with a smile. It made me laugh that one of them was take a bath! This is not her favorite evening activity!

Emiley made me a sweet card. Inside her card were some questions her teacher had asked about me. I was very happy to realize I was only 15 years old!!

Lainey also made this picture! I love it because it is so unique! It shows all the things Lainey loves and realizes about me.

And finally, every year at the WHC I get to pick out my Mother's Day surprise. It has been a tradition for the last ten years because the WHC is always on Mother's Day weekend. This year I picked out this white pearly necklace and a new black dress. I love it and cant wait to wear it tomorrow night to Emiley's gymnastics recital!

Wordless Wednesday...

Texas, Our Texas...

Wow! We have had a fun-filled, busy last few days. Friday the girls had their Texas performance at school. Each grade had to dress according to a time period in Texas history and perform dances that went along with the given time period. Abbey's grade had to be the traditional cowboy and did square dancing. Lainey's class performed a dance to "The Yellow Rose of Texas." She had the perfect dress but changed her mind the morning of the show. She still looked cute :) Miss Emiley's class had to represent the Mexican Americans. She looked so cute in this bright colored dress with her worn out boots! Emiley's dancing partner was absent so she had to dance with her ghost partner. She did a great job and never got embarrassed or upset that she was dancing by herself. Look at that smile on her face! Lainey and Shane did a great job dancing and now we have some blackmail material for their senior year!

After Lainey and Emiley had already danced, I had the great idea to video! So Abbey is the only one I got a video of while dancing. I will try to do better next time!

As soon as the girls were finished dancing, I checked them out of school and we headed to Abilene to the Western Heritage Classic. We go every year and always have a great time. This year we were a little late in booking a room.(by this I mean I booked our room in January after calling 20 hotels. we usually book the day we leave... a year in advance.) Needless to say, we were in sort of a roach motel where the TV was controlled by a light switch. It was OK... they had a pool, the girls swam, and we only were in the room from about midnight to eight a.m. each morning.

The ranch rodeo is always so fun. Here is the grand entry with all ranches in the arena wearing there ranch's shirts. It was beautiful! Will and Abbey were ready for a good show.

It was a great weekend celebrating Texas and the cowboy culture! We were all worn out by the time we got home on Sunday. But it was so worth it and we look forward to next year.
