Double Dose...
Today is another Double Dose with an overload of pictures. I am going to participate in Kelly's "Show us Where You Live Friday" and also have my regular Friday Favorites. So here goes another FUN FRIDAY. Grab your coffee or your diet coke and get ready for another country tour straight from small town, Texas. 
We bought this older house in the country four years ago. It had yellow shag carpet and was in need of some re-do! There were also three walls that seperated a formal living room/dining, the kitchen, and the den. We had all three wall torn out to give us one LARGE living area. This is our front living area. The front door is on the right of the window.

I might also take the time to tell you that everything that is in our house was either given to us or bought at a garage sale. I am wishing for a few new things in the future (far off future)! When you are married to a CPA you tend to take what you can get all for the sake of a budget. This is an antique wardrobe that has been in the family for years. My mom just recently gave it to me and I LOVE it!
Now, moving onto the den. I also love this piece my dad gave me. It stores all the girls craft items. They love to pull out all their stuff and color on the coffee table. This is also one of my favorite cowboy prints done by Brian Asher. We have about five others in our home.

All in a Day's Work...
As a stay-at-home mom, you never know what your day might entail. Every day is a new adventure and every night you go to bed exhausted and ready for some night time renewal.
One day may be a quiet day at the house watching Martha, Racheal, and Days of Our Lives. The next day may be spent cleaning up throw-up ten times and Lysoling your entire house. One day may be spent cleaning out closets, vacuuming, mopping, doing the dishes, dusting, and completing load after load of laundry trying not to turn anyone's underwear pink! A stay-at-home mom may spend one day driving around the country-side looking for the family dog or walking down the dirt road, rope in hand, trying to get your kid's horse back into the family pasture. One day in the life of a mom is sure to include a trip to the grocery store to re-stock the family pantry so that we can EAT! All in all, it's all in a day's work.
Yesterday, I had a crazy, busy fun day as a stay-at-home mom! I love it when I get to volunteer at the school to do FUN projects. Dont get me wrong, I love listening to kids read or assist with giving tests or practicing addition problems over and over, but I truly love coloring, pasting, drawing, and getting dirty all for the LOVE of school :) Yesterday I did just that... We tie-dyed!! No, we're not crazy. In fact after we got all the Kindergarten shirts done, we got more shirts and did them for the first graders.
They are beautiful, If I do say so myself! Each class has a different design. I finally remembered my camera last night at seven o'clock when we were washing out the last batch. Yes, we stared at 8 a.m. so we had a complete 12 hours of tie-dying fun!
But there will be some super cute kids sporting these shirts on field day!
Tie-dying did come with some partially blue feet. Mrs. Jenny has morphed into a Smurf. Her hands were completely blue because she didnt use gloves the last go around, but she washed her hands in bleach before I got a picture.
There was also a nice blue stripe down my leg. But yet again, its all in a day's work!
While the last batch of shirts were soaking, I managed to make six loaves of banana bread for Teacher Appreciation Week, two Swedish pineapple cakes (one for a bake sale and one for Teachers), and another chocolate pound cake!
It's all in a day's work!! And my day's work was lots of fun and very successful even though I didnt make a dime.

8. Had a great time at "Dessert at Dawn" on Christina's front porch! Wonderful way to end a day after the kids are in bed.
8 Things I wish I could do:
1. Get motivated to work-out more.
2. Tell people NO!
3. Lose weight.
4. Win the lottery. (Hey, you are asking for wishes!)
5. Never complain.
6. Sew.
7.Sleep (I am having some insomnia lately. )
8. Sell roses in NYC!
8 Things I watch:
1. American Idol
2. Grey's Anatomy
3. Private Practice
4. Biggest Loser
5. The 6 o'clock news
6. House Hunters

Good For Your Hips...
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Being a former teacher, I am always up for a celebration that honors my daughter's teachers. This week I have volunteered to make some desserts throughout the week for our GREAT teachers in HISD. 
Today I made my favorite Chocolate Pound Cake. It is oh so yummy and good for your hips. Its also super easy to make.
1 cup butter
1/2 cup Crisco
5 eggs
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 cup milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter, Crisco, and sugar and add eggs. Then add the rest of the ingredients. Bake at 325 for an hour to an hour and a half in a greased and floured tube pan.
I like to sprinkle mine with powdered sugar!
Since we are talking about hips, I will share some knowledge with you that Lainey Beth shared with me this week. Lainey mentioned that her legs were getting long (which they are and Will and I neither one know where she got them from). Lainey also said that her hips were starting to stick out. She asked me if I knew why girls hips stuck out. I told her I wasnt sure. I was patiently waiting for Lainey's knowledge to come spilling out of her mouth. Lainey informed me that girls hips have to stick out because they have to carry babies on their hips.
I think Lainey just gave the thumbs up for eating Chocolate Pound Cake! Girls, we need our HIPS!

All Wrapped Up in One...

First for sharin' of some kitchen pictures straight from a Texas Country Home. This cute little sign is over my sink. I bought it years ago at Canton and I still LOVE it!
Many of you, my regular readers, have seen most of my kitchen in past "Friday Favorites!" When we bought our home we left the cabinets and redid the countertops (tumbled marble) and the floors.
Our kitchen, living room, and den are all open. We tore out three walls when we remodeled to open up the entire living area. We have really enjoyed this house and look forward to spending many, many years here!
I have gone crazy with the red and turquoise. It is so fun and they are my two favorite colors. Here is the complete view of the kitchen!

Now for FRIDAY FAVORITES...My rose bush! This time of year just makes me smile. The roses are everywhere on our place. I wish I know who planted all the rose bushes. I am so thankful for whoever did :)
I love clipping a few here and there and placing them in the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen. The smell wonderful.
